Process Application Engineer

Wharton, NJ     
$80-110k DOE + 10% yearly bonus

Position Description:

As Process Application Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to provide cordial, timely, and accurately engineered water treatment solutions, including pricing and proposal assistance to sales and our customers. In this role, you will work with marketing and sales to understand the needs and desires of the customers and provide them with technical support that meets or exceeds customer expectations. This position will require limited travel with the business development team to customer facilities to discuss these future opportunities in depth. The selected candidate will report to the Chief Engineer.

The company’s customer base is broken down into the following (5) end markets:

- Commercial Development

- Infrastructure

- General Industry and Chem / Pharma

- Federal

- Utilities

Sales channels to these markets is through our:

- Local Contractors and Consultants

- ENR 200

- Direct / Owners / End Users

You will represent the entire range of the company’s portfolio of services including Remediation Contracting (RC), Equipment Rental/Sale/Manufacturing (EQ), Dewatering (DW), and Operation and Maintenance (OM).


Preferred Experience and Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Environmental, Civil, or Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of process treatment systems design experience.
  • Experience with cost estimating, bid preparation, and technical proposal writing.
  • Experience with various aspects of groundwater, surface water, and wastewater treatment.
  • Knowledge of New York and New Jersey environmental regulations (NYDEC/NJDEP).
  • 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification.

Your core responsibilities and tasks will include:

  • Work with other disciplines to create treatment systems that are tailored to the application, reviewing customer requirements on small to large complex projects.
  • Review specifications, contract/RFP documents, water quality data, design drawings, etc. to prepare preliminary process designs to meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Prepare scope of work documents, design drawings, etc., and review with Sales/Project Managers on all jobs.
  • Assist in creating Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) as well as piping and equipment layout drawings directly from P&IDs.
  • Assist in the selection and determining the suitability of existing equipment for new projects.
  • Assist in the startup and troubleshooting of projects at the job site.
  • Visit job sites to develop plans for mobilization and demobilization.
  • Working with engineering and the shop to create drawings as required for the application.
  • Selection of appropriate equipment/materials to meet customer needs and to develop project costing.
  • Determine and understand risks associated with project opportunity.
  • Effectively support sales to communicate solutions to external customers.

Travel:
Local travel is required, with some overnight travel as needed.
