Job Overview
The Field Service Technician position requires a high level of proficiency in mechanical systems, with the ability to support sophisticated water treatment systems, for a wide variety of challenging applications. Field Service Technicians will repair and commission process technologies, including reverse osmosis (RO), demineralization (DI), ultraviolet (UV), water softeners, ion exchange, pressure filters, chemicals, ultrafiltration (UF), and nanofiltration (NF). This position requires extensive travel (80%), including some international.
Key Responsibilities
- Provides customer service and technical support during field visits.
- Troubleshoots and resolves technical issues.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains equipment.
- Trains customers on equipment operation.
- Works with Electrical Engineering/Automation to troubleshoot and confirm program operation.
- Documents service work and maintains confidentiality.
- Continues professional development and shares knowledge.
- Available for short-notice travel.
Qualifications & Skills
- Associate's degree or technical school diploma; or 5 years relevant experience; or a combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of water treatment technologies.
- Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot water treatment issues in the field.
- Knowledge of plumbing valves, pumps, and instruments (pressure, flow, pH, conductivity, ORP, temperature, silica, turbidity, chlorine, etc.).
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, PFDs, P&IDs, general arrangements, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively in front of customers or employees.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Computer skills (Word, Excel, RS Linx, RS Logix 500, RS Logix 5000, FactoryTalk View, etc.).
- Ability to upload and download PLC and HMI programs and troubleshoot ladder logic PLC programs.
- Organized and detail-oriented.
