Inside Sales Specialist -Headworks/Wastewater

Our Client is a leading manufacturer of municipal headworks and industrial wastewater screening solutions.  The Technical Inside Sales Representative – MSS Specialist requires strong mechanical aptitude, ability to discuss opportunities with customers by telephone and e-mail and provide expert consultation on opportunities. The key responsibilities include, determining customer requirements accurately and in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction plus processing proposals, reviewing specifications and general business development activities.  As the MSS Specialist, this person will provide support to the inside sales team at large, related to headworks projects specifically.  This exciting and challenging position will be primarily responsible for servicing the North American customer base, from a home office environment.

Key Accountabilities:

Sales and Customer Service

  1. Responds to customer inquiries, provides technical proposals via telephone, fax, email, electronic methods
  2. Proactively generates sales by actively promoting MSS products to existing customers
  3. Identify and solicit potential new clients
  4. Assess clients’ needs and resources plus recommend appropriate goods or services
  5. Deliver sales presentations
  6. Utilize sales/marketing software packages to produce pre-submittal packages
  7. Utilize Microsoft office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  8. Influences the Gross Profit through negotiating the sale price and purchase price within certain parameters
  9. Consult with clients after sales to provide ongoing support
  10. Assist in resolving product and service related problems
  11. Read and understand blueprints and RFQ documents
  12. CAD skills a plus


  1. May adjust non-contract customer pricing to meet the demands of the customer based on competition, while maximizing the profit the company
  2. Using Excel spreadsheets to accurately reflect the overall costs for equipment before constructing the proposal


  1. Routinely interacts with internal customers to obtain information, construct a proper proposal and fulfill external customer needs correctly
  2. Interacts with Environmental Design team to supply the best possible solution for customer requirements
  3. Interacts with Environmental Purchasing to supply the best possible costing solution for customer requirements
  4. Interacts with Environmental Service to supply the best possible repair solution for customer situation
  5. Partners with Environmental Representatives to ensure customer satisfaction
  6. Occasional travel for sales presentation and trade shows
  7. Fast paced office environment, be able to work under pressure, tight deadlines, must have attention to detail

Technical Knowledge

  1. May assist customer by troubleshooting from office; strong mechanical aptitude; knowledge of wastewater and/or water an asset
  2. Should be a graduate from a technical institution and be eligible for AScT designation. BS in Engineering or related field preferred.


  1. Company will provide extensive product and application training, which will be ongoing
  2. Attends training sessions regularly to continue professional growth and development

Required Experience

  1. 1-3 years experience: 1 year minimum customer service experience required
  2. Reliability, organization and attention to detail required; exceptional English communication skills required
  3. Industry experience in wastewater, water, power and/or mechanical systems; product knowledge from previous mechanical experience is preferred
  4. Ability to multi-task and time management skills required
  5. Good computer skills, including information processing, communicating internally and externally via email, using business systems and searching capabilities on the internet
