Senior Project Engineer -Water/Wastewater Infrastructure

Position summary:  Executes the company's Design/Build strategy primarily by engineering design and project execution.  Carries out engineering tasks and activities on assigned water and energy projects under limited direction by performing duties personally or with other team members. 

Qualifications required:

Education:  Minimum of Bachelor’s degree (BS) from an accredited four-year engineering/technical college or university with extensive course work related to the design of water resources infrastructure. Civil, environmental, and/or mechanical engineering background expected.

 

Certifications & Licenses: Professional Engineering License.

 

Experience:  Applicant should have 5+ years of related engineering design experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions form management.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and numerical approximation methods, calculus and permutations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

Acquires basic knowledge and develops skills in a specific practice area.  
Applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment.
Exercise limited judgment or details of work and in application of standard methods for conventional work.
Performs basic design tasks.
Assists on other task such as: preparation of permit applications, material testing, drawings, and computer-aided design (CAD) work.
Assigns tasks to and coordinates with technicians or administrative staff.
Receives close supervision on unusual or difficult problems, and general review of all aspects of work.
Interacts with staff, general public, officials, and contractors.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with modest supervisory guidance, except on difficult problems. For this position it is expected that an individual will have knowledge of principles and techniques commonly employed in the industry as well as having some knowledge of precedents in the specialty and related areas.
