Position Summary:

Carries out engineering tasks and activities on assigned water resource projects, under the direction of one or more senior project or managing engineers by performing the following duties personally or through work with other team members. Full, competitive benefits package available.

Qualifications required:

Education: Minimum of bachelor's degree (BS) from four-year engineering/technical college or university with extensive course work related to the design of water resources infrastructure. Civil, environmental, and/or mechanical engineering background expected.

Certifications & Licenses: Certification as Engineer-In-Training, or its equivalent, is a pre-requisite. It should be the aim of the Project Engineer to obtain a Professional Engineering license.

Experience: Applicant should have 0 to 4 years of water and wastewater treatment system design.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations and to apply to engineering applications. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and numerical approximation methods, calculus and permutations.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Qualifications desired:

Detailed design experience of water, wastewater, and treatment systems.
Proficiency with wastewater process kinetics, and experience with associated software (Biowin, GPS-X, etc.)
Knowledge of hydraulic modeling of distribution and collection systems.
Advanced knowledge of WaterGEMs, SewerGEMS, and HydroCAD, or equivalent.
Fluent in AutoCAD and experience using AutoCAD MEP (3-D Modeling).
Basic knowledge and intermediate experience with ESRI GIS.
Construction inspection experience.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

50% of time: Undertakes assignments and activities related to the development of water, wastewater. Typical projects include, but are not limited to, potable water wells, treatment facilities, storage tanks, and water distribution systems along with sewers, pumping stations, water reuse systems, wastewater treatment facilities.

45% of time: Performs engineering calculations, contributes to the preparation of engineering and project reports, conducts field investigations, develops engineering cost estimates and prepares design sketches and drawings.

5% of time: Provides assistance in the development of new business documents and proposals.

For this position it is expected that an individual will have knowledge of principals and techniques commonly employed in the water resource engineering assignments as well as having a broad knowledge of precedents in the specialty and related areas.

Work Environment: Office based, in Hillsborough, New Jersey. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Performance standards:

Performance of a project engineer in the Engineering group will be primarily measured against demonstrated success in developing and delivering project work products that are of high quality, and prepared within the limits of contracted schedule and budget. Additional goals will be established at a yearly performance review.
