Business Development Manager -Energy, Water & Waste

Scope and Responsibilities: 
The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying and developing long-term, integrated, energy services contracts and will lead the pursuit of new business opportunities by establishing strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
• Identify potential customers and develop relationships with key decision makers in the client organization in order to assess opportunities with the company
• Act as primary focal point with the client
• Manage and participate in proposal preparation, pricing and presentations to customers
• Formulate and write technical proposals reflecting the strategic approach towards developing a new project
• Lead negotiations with clients, including preparation of contracts and possible structuring of financing solutions
• Must serve as a close liaison with other members of the teams (operations, finance, legal, insurance, risk management, etc.) throughout the entire sales process 
• Assess competitor strengths, weaknesses and strategic direction 

Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Bachelors degree in Engineering or related discipline
5 – 7 years’ experience in business development within the Energy & Utilities or Engineering Services industry
3+ years’ experience within a commercial industry
Proven experience working in the local market
Thorough working knowledge of financial aspects of the business, including how to calculate ROI by utilizing sophisticated financial models using Microsoft Excel
Knowledge of energy service contracts and a proven track record in closing complex deals
Ability to build rapport with clients and listen to their needs in order to create customized client solutions
Strong communication skills both written and verbal across all levels
Hands-on project experience working directly with clients

 

Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Certified Energy Manager (CEM)
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)
Project Management Professional (PMP)
Other applicable certifications, etc.
